Research Interests:
My research interests are in physiological changes of cardiorenal immune responses in health and the disease states of hypertension, diabetes, atherosclerosis and obesity. In particular, I am interested in signal transduction pathways and their influence on development of pathophysiological changes. I am also interested in in-vitro, in-vivo models of age-related vascular dysfunction and its consequences at functional and molecular aspects.

ADELOLA ADEYEMO

Email: Lola.Adeyemo@utah.edu

Research Interests:
My research interests center on the impact of cardiovascular diseases (CVD) and associated conditions such as hypertension and diabetes, as well as assessing how diet and physical activity can influence CVD etiology and vascular function. After receiving my Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Exercise Physiology, my Doctoral studies examined the cellular mechanisms underlying racial differences in endothelial dysfunction in order to gain insight into the health disparities and outcomes seen in the wider population.

As a Postdoctoral fellow in the TVPL my training and work explores the pathways and mechanisms involved in common age-associated vascular conditions. Incorporating rodent, cell culture, and human models, I examine the role of shear stress and atherosclerosis on the endothelium, and T cells in the arterial dysfunction seen with advancing age.

Research Interests:
My research interest is to understand the physiological and molecular mechanisms responsible for age-related development of cardiovascular disease. As functional and structural alterations in arteries are the main culprit of increase cardiovascular risks, it is crucial to elucidate the cellular pathways in the progression of arterial aging. In addition, my research focus lies on treatment and prevention strategy to mitigate arterial dysfunction with advancing age.

Research Interests:
My research interest is to understand how the biology of aging affects vascular function and enhances susceptibility to diseases, especially cardiovascular diseases. Particularly, how endothelial cells, the internal monolayer of blood vessels, contribute to these harmful conditions. In addition, in understanding aging itself through elucidating the molecular signaling that controls cell fate (e.g. apoptosis, senescence, differentiation) and how this could drive dysfunction over time. Lastly, seeking molecules that could target these mechanisms aiming to prevent or treat age-related vascular dysfunction.
